				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On <strong>Wednesday, May 15, 2013</strong>, <a href="http://metro.org/" target="_blank">METRO</a> and <a href="http://www.nycarchivists.org/" target="_blank">Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York</a> are co-sponsoring the workshop <strong>Strategic Planning for Small Archives Programs</strong>. The full-day workshop will take place at <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps?q=57+E+11th+St,+New+York,+NY&amp;hl=en&amp;hnear=57+E+11th+St,+New+York,+10003&amp;gl=us&amp;t=m&amp;z=16" target="_blank">METRO</a> and provides an overview of the strategic planning process from the perspective of small archival program management, emphasizing relationships and community-building both within and outside of the archival program&#8217;s parent organization.</p>
<p><a href="http://metro.org/events/316/" target="_blank">Registration</a> is only $20 for this full-day workshop due to funding made available as part of METRO’s <a href="http://keepingcollections.org/" target="_blank">Keeping Collections</a> project, which is funded in part by the New York State Archives <a href="http://www.archives.nysed.gov/a/records/mr_hrecords_dhp.shtml" target="_blank">Documentary Heritage Program</a>.<br />

By the end of this program, participants will:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Understand how to balance strategic planning and the day-to-day work of managing a small archival program</li>
<li>Craft a vision statement that complements the values and culture of the archival program&#8217;s parent organization</li>
<li>Write a preliminary SWOT analysis for his or her archival program</li>
<li>Learn to identify appropriate goals and formulate achievable objectives</li>
</ul>
